December 2014

From public lectures to signature celebrations such as Canada Day, we're honoured to invite our community to the University of Waterloo.

Holiday Giving

Traditions are an important part of every community, especially around the holidays, and the University of Waterloo is no exception.  Each December students, faculty and staff in our many faculties and departments come together to support numerous holiday initiatives. From toy drives to the collection of winter wearables to food hamper deliveries, our Waterloo community is working together to give back to the community we live in.

Real Warriors Wear Pink

The end of November marks the wrap up of Waterloo's annual Think Pink campaign lead by our department of athletics and recreation.  In its 7th year, Think Pink raises awareness and funds for breast cancer research with all funds going to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, Ontario division.

Think Pink began as an initiative by Waterloo's Women's Basketball team and in just seven years has expanded to include multiple varsity teams, recreational activities, and other fundraising events engaging the entire University community.

UWaterloo Warriors “Team-Up” with local schools

Positive messages from positive role models. This is the key idea around which the Team-Up program, sponsored in part by the Education Credit Union, is based. Team-Up brings Varsity Student-Athletes to schools where they speak to classes or teams about topics such as goal setting, having positive role models and being a team player. With over 52 schools, both elementary and secondary, and over 5,500 individuals participating last year in the Kitchener-Waterloo area, this year’s Team-Up school outreach program looks to reach even more students with their positive message that focuses around the Six Keys to Success.
