As a teenager coming into the Waterloo Region community with the Kitchener Rangers, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. Now I am more aware of the life experiences, networking, and positive benefits that this area has to offer. My time in Kitchener as a Ranger was well spent, and it gave me the opportunity to develop the skills needed for life after hockey.
Five years later, I find myself back in this community as a Waterloo Warrior, and there is no other spot I’d rather be. The support of the community, as well as the organizations that call this region home, are truly second to none and are nothing but humbling to be a part of. It has really taught me that individually we are only so powerful, but when we come together as a team, or a community, the possibilities become endless. My experiences with the Rangers and the University of Waterloo have a lot in common, as it is not just about hockey, but it is also about developing as a well-rounded individual.
