Health & well-being: Events and outreach

The University of Waterloo welcomes community members to our campus to take part in a number of health and charitable related events each year:

  • Mental Health Awareness DayEach October, our campus celebrates Mental Health Awareness Day, promoting awareness of mental health among students, faculty, and staff.

  • National Philanthropy Day — Celebrated each November, National Philanthropy day recognizes the many ways we give back to our communities and causes we care about as volunteers, ambassadors, advocates and donors.

  • Relay for LifeJoin St. Jerome’s University as they host their annual fundraising campaign.  

  • AHS Fun RunParticipate in our annual Fun Run, a 5k run on campus which is part of the University of Waterloo’s Reunion weekend.

  • Gender Equity — Waterloo is committed to supporting and celebrating females on our campus and in the community by hosting signature events each year, including an International Women’s Day Dinner in March, a recognition event to mark the December 6 National Day of Remembrance to End Violence Against Women, and we participate in the community’s Take Back the Night efforts. The University of Waterloo is also the only Canadian university - and one of ten across the globe - to participate in the UN Women’s HeForShe IMPACT 10x10x10 framework.

  • Waterloo's School of Pharmacy located in downtown Kitchener offers a number of health-related outreach events throughout the year in collaboration with various community partners:

    • AIDS Committee of Cambridge, Kitchener & Waterloo

    • Alzheimer’s Society of Waterloo Region

    • Canadian Cancer Society

    • Canadian Pharmacists Association

    • Heart and Stroke Foundation

    • Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada
