Youth engagement: Events and outreach

Through our events and community outreach the University of Waterloo has a positive impact in shaping the minds of tomorrow's leaders through a number of initiatives:

  • Camps and enrichment programsThe University of Waterloo has designed a variety of educational, fun, and innovative camps for children and youth of all ages featuring activities in the fields of art, science, engineering, music and athletics.

  • Math Circles is a free weekly enrichment activity for grade 6 to 12 students organized by the Faculty of Mathematics of the University of Waterloo.  

  • Engineering outreach programs Our Faculty of Engineering offers a number of signature educational programs in schools, in the community, and on our campus. Most popular are our Engineering Science Quest summer and March break programs, Catalyst, Engineering Explorations, and Women in Engineering programs like Go ENG Girl.

  • Let’s Talk Science led by the Faculty of Science at Waterloo, aims to improve Science literacy through leadership, innovative educational programs, research and advocacy designed for students in their very early years all the way through high school.

  • Waterloo in our community — University of Waterloo students and faculty are regular contributors to community programs and festivals including the City of Kitchener’s summer Discovery Square program, the Waterloo Public Library’s Literacy Day, and summer programming at the Kitchener Public Library.
