CAN I GET A GRADUATION LAWN SIGN?

Show off your #UWaterlooGrad pride with a free graduation lawn sign! Lawn signs are available for pickup only from the W Store curbside pickup location in South Campus Hall, open Monday – Friday, 12:30 PM – 4 PM. No appointment or reservation required. As a courtesy to all our graduates, there is a limit of one sign per family. Lawn signs are available on a first come, first served basis. Lawn signs cannot be shipped.

HOW LONG WILL THE SPRING 2021 CONVOCATION CEREMONIES BE?

The reception and ceremonies on June 17, 18 and 19 will take no longer than 60-minutes.

WHAT SHOULD I VERIFY ON MY DIPLOMA?

For undergraduate students:

 See the Registrar's Offcie graduation checklist for instructions and deadlines for name changes, fee payments, etc.  

For graduate students: 

Your diploma is an official document provided by the University of Waterloo and as such, it will be printed with your full legal name on record (i.e., first, middle, last). Take the time now to view and verify your legal/primary name in Quest. Changes must be submitted via a Change of Name Form no later than May 14.   

Other personalization's to consider: 

Have an accent or special character in your name or PhD thesis title?  
Email the details to Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs by May 14.  

Do you prefer a gender-neutral diploma type?  
Graduating students can request a gender-neutral diploma (i.e., "Magisteriate"). There is no fee associated with this request if it is received by the deadline. If you’re interest in this please complete the online request form by May 14. 
 

CAN I STILL ATTEND A FUTURE CONVOCATION IN-PERSON, ONCE IT IS SAFE TO DO SO?

You will be able to attend an in-person convocation in the future.

The University is collecting contact information from graduates who might be interested in attending and participating at a future in-person ceremony (e.g., cross the stage in a rented gown). Understanding interest will be helpful in making decisions in the future. Let us know by signing up to attend a future in-person convocation event in Quest. This option will become available once your degree is completed and is listed as “awarded” on your unofficial transcript. The University will reach out to all graduates when the time arises, using your contact information in Quest.

WHICH CONVOCATION DO I ATTEND IF I AM GRADUATING FROM SOFTWARE ENGINEERING OR COMPUTER AND FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT?

Software Engineering students will be graduating with the Faculty of Mathematics for the spring 2021 convocation.

Computing and Financial Management students will be graduating with the Faculty of Arts for the spring 2021 convocation.

CAN I STILL GET GRADUATION PHOTOS?

Portrait sessions are arranged and managed directly by Lifetouch Prestige Photography and Newschool Photography, and appointments are available when public health restrictions are lifted. For more information, please visit Lifetouch Waterloo (Environment, Arts, Math) or Newschool Photography (Health, Engineering, Science).

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY DIPLOMA?

Your diploma package will be shipped by courier to the Mail type address listed in Quest as long as you have a telephone number listed and your address is not a PO Box. In those scenarios, diploma packages will be sent via regular mail. Be sure to check your package thoroughly for all items!

It is imperative you check your Mail type address and phone number listed in Quest and make any changes before June 1. 

If sent by courier, you will receive a tracking number to your uwaterloo.ca email address after it has been shipped. 

There are frequently asked questions about troubleshooting your diploma package available to you.  

If your degree is listed under the Degrees Awarded section at the top of your unofficial transcript by May 28, your diploma package will be shipped during the week of June 14 to 18.  

Arrival will be dependent on the order your package is sent out and the location of your mailing address. You can use the tracking number provided to find out the expected arrival date. Packages sent to Ontario addresses usually arrive the next day.  

Conditions: Your diploma package will only be shipped if all outstanding fees are paid by June 1, 2021. Check your account in Quest now for fees owing or holds that need to be resolved to ensure you receive your diploma. 

CAN I PICK UP MY DIPLOMA?

Due to the provincial shutdown, all diploma packages will be shipped. Note that packages sent to Ontario addresses usually arrive the next day.

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY IRON RING (ENGINEERING UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS ONLY)?

If you participated in the Ritual of the Calling of an Engineer, your Iron Ring will be included in your diploma package.

CAN I PURCHASE REGALIA?

A graduation keepsake bundle is available for pre-order until April 15, 2021 (purchasing by this date guarentees delivery by June 15, 2021). The retail price for this bundle is $49.99. It includes a graduation gown, cap, tassel and stole. These can not be returned or exchanged because they are made to order.

HOW CAN I ORDER A DIPLOMA FRAME?

Currently, we are offering online orders for diploma frames on uwaterlooframes.com.

I SIGNED UP FOR A FUTURE CONVOCATION, BUT HAVEN'T HEARD ANYTHING YET?

If you graduated in June 2020 or October 2020 and you indicated your preference on the future convocation form, rest asurred we have your information collected.

Once an in-person convocation event has been deemed safe to host, the University will reach out to students who have expressed an interest to attend. Please ensure your contact information (email, mailing address, phone) is kept up to date in Quest.
