The Graduate House is an amenity space specifically for graduate students to lounge and socialize. Serving delicious food at an affordable price, providing a casual relaxing atmosphere, and hosting exciting weekly events, the Graduate House is one of the top places for our graduate students to check out on campus.

Sports and leisure

Intramurals, varsity sports, and private squash courts; The University of Waterloo has it all! With two fully-equipped recreational facilities as well as a number of teams and clubs, UWaterloo Athletics has something for everyone.

Fitness schedules and sport sign ups are available each term.

Off campus gyms and recreational facilities are also available for you to stay in shape and stay connected to the community.

Living in Waterloo

Columbia Lake Village (CLV) is a townhouse community for all students. The community provides a safe and comfortable environment for people of all ages. It is a very diverse community with students and families from all over the world. International diversity is embraced and celebrated.

OFF CAMPUS There are many apartments, houses, and condos available for purchase or rent in the city. Waterloo Housing makes it easy to find a place that is right for you.

Waterloo-Kitchener is a growing community that offers many attractions, events, and amenities to explore and experience. You can take advantage of the various offerings throughout the year.

  • The St. Jacob's Farmer's Market offers fresh produce, cultural foods, hand-made crafts, and a relaxed community atmosphere. Visitors come from all over the world to experience the home-grown culture. 
  • Perfect for picnics, bike rides, and baseball games, Waterloo Park is a year-round delight that links Waterloo Uptown Square to the university by a short, 10-minute walk. See llamas, rabbits, and peacocks in the summer and tour the Wonders of Winter: Festival of Lights in the winter.
  • Housing over 1,000 free-flying butterflies, the Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory, offers a scenic and tropical oasis that is the perfect destination for a rainy day. 
  • If you're feeling a challenge, Adventure Rooms Canada provides bonding and team-building opportunities for students, employers, families, and more. A series of adventures and challenges will test your wits and skills during this hour-long event.
