Waterloo Black wins 2015 ACM ICPC East Central North America Regional Programming Contest

Members of the Waterloo Black Association of Computing Machinery International Collegiate Programming Contest team are headed to Phuket, Thailand this coming May for the contest world finals thanks to a stunning performance at this past weekend's East Central North America Regional Programming Contest which took place at the University of Windsor.

David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science ranked #19 globally by U.S. News and World Report

For a second time, the David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science has ranked in the global top-20 in subject-area rankings for Computer Science by U.S. News & World Report

The global universities ranking uses a pool of 1,000 institutions to create the list of the top 750 schools. The top 750 schools were ranked using 12 indicators such as global research reputation, regional research reputation, publications, books, and conferences.

Results of Waterloo-local ACM-style programming contest

The fall Waterloo-local ACM-style programming contest was held this past
Sunday, September 27. This term, we had a huge turnout of about 100 competitors, with 81 submitting at least one solution.
 
The winner of the contest was Andy Huang, 3A CS.

Thesis award winners recieve high recognition

Han Zhao, a former master's student with the David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science has been named the recipient of the 2015 Alumni Gold Medal for outstanding achievement at the master's level for his thesis "On the Relationship between Sum-Product Networks and Bayesian Networks", with supervisor Pascal Poupart.
