CFM student apart of team to win the 2024 CFA Institute Research Challenge Global Championship
The University of Waterloo came out on top as the winning student team at the 2024 CFA Institute Research Challenge Global Championship. Competing against over 6,700 students from 1,100 universities worldwide, the Waterloo team triumphed in the global final held in Warsaw, Poland.
Among the winning team members, fourth-year CFM student, Aryaman, was a part of that talented group. The winning team comprised of five students and were mentored by Waterloo alumnus, Jeannine LiChong (MAcc ’92) and advised by Professor Steve Balaban, CFA.
The victory of the student team came from their comprehensive analysis and presentation, which recommended a buy for Cargojet Inc. Margaret Franklin, CFA, President and CEO of CFA Institute, congratulated the team, noting their incredible achievement against fierce global competitors.
The CFA Institute Research Challenge Global Championship is a hands-on competition, judged by top industry professionals. It provides participants with invaluable experience in investment analysis.
