Students pitch social enterprises to harness the power of energy for 10 million people in the Hult Prize UWaterloo Finals

Friday, December 1, 2017

On November 29, the Conrad Centre hosted the Hult Prize @ UWaterloo Finals, a cross-campus social entrepreneurship competition which challenged students to develop social enterprises that harness the power of energy for 10 million people. Eight student teams pitched their solutions, competing for a chance to represent UWaterloo at the Hult Prize Regional Finals

Judges Jeff Jenner (CEO, Potentia Renewables), Charity Kabango-Lowe (Co-Founder, Entrepreneurial Solutions Partners, and Bernie Li (Co-Founder, The Pure Energies), were impressed by the ideas and enthusiasm for social enterprise expressed by all teams.

The Hult Prize @ UWaterloo event, made possible by the Eyton Directorship of the Conrad Centre and the support of Electrical Contacts Ltd., drew participation from over a hundred and fifty undergraduate and graduate students across faculties. The competition was led by Conrad social entrepreneurship lecturer, Roopa Reddy and Hult Campus Director, Pragya Dawadi.
