Marc Hurwitz appointed Associate Director, Professional Graduate Programs at the Conrad School
The Conrad School of Entrepreneurship and Business is delighted to announce that professorMarc Hurwitz has been appointed associate director, Professional Graduate Programs. In this leadership role, Hurwitz will help guide the continued growth of the School’s professional graduate offerings, including the Master of Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology (MBET) program, while enhancing student learning, strengthening industry engagement, and supporting the Conrad School’s ongoing evolution as a leader in entrepreneurship education at Waterloo.
Remembering Professor Wayne Chang
The Conrad School of Entrepreneurship and Business joins the University of Waterloo community in remembering Dr. Wayne Chang, an inspiring teacher, mentor and entrepreneurial champion whose optimism, creativity and compassion shaped generations of students and founders.
An associate professor and coordinator of the Enterprise Co-op (E Co-op) program, Wayne was known for his infectious positivity and unwavering dedication to helping others realize their potential. His influence continues to define the culture of creativity, collaboration and confidence at the Conrad School.
Professor Shavin Malhotra’s research on government contracting published in the Journal of Management
Conrad School of Entrepreneurship and Business research faculty member Professor Shavin Malhotra has co-authored a paper accepted to the Journal of Management, one of the Financial Times (FT) Top 50 journals.
The paper, titled “Risk Sharing in Government Contracting: Strategic Alliances as Safeguards in Government Supplier Relationships,” explores how firms that rely on U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) contracts manage the unique risks of doing business with powerful government buyers.

Connecting Paths: Embracing Community in my MBET Experience
Hey there! I’m Munib Nasir, and I’ve always been passionate about helping and inspiring others. Before diving into the Master of Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology (MBET) program at the Conrad School of Entrepreneurship and Business, my journey has been quite eclectic. Previously, I worked as a full-time content creator on the streaming platforms Twitch and YouTube. This allowed me to share my love for gaming and life in a growing community. Along the way, I also gathered experience working in the nonprofit sector and in marketing. Little did I know, the MBET program would be the place where all these threads of my life would weave together into something amazing.
Navigating Entrepreneurship: My MBET Journey at the Conrad School
The MBET program has been impactful to me for several reasons. It is refreshing to hear the professors give feedback with such candor, especially in a world where people are more inclined to tell you what you want to hear rather than what you need to hear. This honesty has been crucial in helping me identify and address weaknesses in my plans. Beyond the academic and professional growth, the MBET program has also been a journey of personal development, as it has taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of continuous learning.
