We acknowledge that we live and work on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. The University of Waterloo is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land promised to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River.
MAJiK Systems trekked down to the 'Windy City' at the beginning of November to attend the single largest manufacturing and packaging exhibition in the USA: PACK Expo International.
With more than 1,700 exhibitors in attendance, the PACK Expo International presents manufacturers with the latest innovative packaging and technological solutions.
Over the course of three days, the MAJiK team had the opportunity to chat with some of the biggest names in packaging, machinery, and controllers. The MAJiK Systems team attended engaging information sessions, and amassed invaluable industry insights– specifically about how connected devices are going to revolutionize the manufacturing process.
Ahead of the curve, in real-time
According to companies like Rockwell Automation, General Electric, and Siemens, the way forward on the factory floor is data collection; Operators want real-time data, available in an easy-to-digest format to inform their decisions. With laptops in hand, the MAJiK team received a number of interested parties looking to get a more in-depth demonstration of a product that does exactly that: MAJiK Connect. The response to MAJiK Connect was extremely positive, with company after company remarking that data collection methods are long overdue, and that MAJiK is filling the gap.

Additionally, the team had the fantastic and unexpected opportunity to meet a true engineering celebrity, Jamie Hyneman! Jamie is the co-host of the popular Discovery Channel television show, MythBusters.
PACK Expo was definitely a success in MAJiK’s books, and the team is looking forward to the growth and development that will follow!
