We acknowledge that we live and work on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. The University of Waterloo is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land promised to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River.
Conrad Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology Centre students are invited to a speaker event featuring Elmar Mock, co-presented with the Accelerator Centre.
Elmar Mock is an engineer in watchmaking and plastics, and he co-invented the Swatch. He then designed Tissot's Rockwatch before leaving the company and founding his own engineering and technical consultation company, Créaholic in Biel, Switzerland in 1986.
Elmar Mock is cited as an inventor in more than 150 patent families, and he is well known internationally for his innovation factory concept and philosophy of breakthrough innovation. He will share his thoughts about making the impossible possible, comparing high-tech device companies, such as Apple and Samsung, to fish swimming in the ocean, navigating in a viscous medium; and the watch industry to agile birds flying free in the sky. “Will the fish learn to fly, or will the birds learn to swim?"
