Fundamental Research

The control systems group consists of nine faculty members in the Department of Electrical and Computer and Computer Engineering. Our fundamental research covers a wide variety of problems in the areas of decision and control, including:

  • Linear and nonlinear control theory
  • Distributed control and network systems
  • Adaptive and robust control
  • Autonomous systems
  • Stochastic algorithms
  • Discrete event systems

Application Areas

Our faculty apply control theory to solve problems in wide variety of application areas, including:

  • Robotics and haptics
  • Smart power grids
  • Autonomous vehicles
  • Humanoid robots
  • Environmental monitoring
  • Transportation networks
  • Psychological systems
