Staying safe on and off campus

Update for undergraduate students

I have been pleased to welcome the Waterloo community back for the fall term, whether it is virtually or on campus. As we continue into the term it is important to remember that it is our shared responsibility to protect each other. Each of us has an important part to play in limiting the risk of COVID-19 and maintaining safety both on and off campus.

I know you are working very hard and giving it your all with your studies and work. But we must not let our guard down. COVID-19 still poses a risk to you and our community. And so we must take this shared responsibility very seriously.

Mandatory reporting of visits to campus buildings using Campus Check-In

Update for employees and students

As part of our staged return to campus plans for Fall term, we are sharing details of a three-point approach to supporting the health and safety of our campus community.

  • We have developed a tool called Campus Check-In that will help us monitor campus building occupancy levels and assist with contact tracing COVID-19 cases in our campus communities.
  • This tool allows us to follow up with effective contact tracing should there be any positive cases of COVID-19 on our campus.
  • Campus Checkin also includes a requirement for everyone to conduct a self-assessment before coming to campus. Effective, September 8, 2020, you must record every visit to campus buildings using Campus Check-In.

Tell us your plans for fall term

Update for international students

The start of the term is fast approaching and the University has created a form to check-in on your plans for fall term. The form is mandatory for all international students and asks about your travel history and plans - including your quarantine plan (if applicable). By filling out the form, we can all comply with the Government of Canada and University of Waterloo health guidelines related to COVID-19 and help keep each other safe.

Reducing your fee bill for fall 2020

Update for students

We know that COVID-19 continues to have a significant effect on your university experience. We are doing everything we can to give you the support you need to keep studying towards your degree.

Recognizing that we have changed some of our student services and that some are not accessible to you when you are studying at a distance from our campuses, leaders from the Waterloo Undergraduate Student Association (WUSA), the Graduate Students Association (GSA) and the University have again reviewed all incidental fees.
