2021 fall term update

Update for new undergraduate students

You might be wondering: what will my campus experience look like in the fall?

As Canada rolls out more vaccines, we are planning for more in-person learning, work, and research starting this fall. We are optimistic that activity can happen in person with a staged and strategic return to campus. Our plan will be flexible so we can tackle unexpected challenges and keep your health and wellbeing our priority.

Canadian study permit application deadlines

Update for prospective international undergraduate students

The Government of Canada announced that study permit applications received by May 15 will be processed by August 6, ensuring a final permit decision before the fall term begins. We understand this has raised questions about when Offers of Admission will be received.

The final round of admissions evaluation is underway, and we are doing everything we can to complete all decisions prior to May 15. If you do not already have an admissions decision, you will hear from us soon.

You can still apply for your study permit after May 15.

Large cluster of COVID cases leads to outbreak

Update for the UWaterloo community

  • We are managing a COVID-19 outbreak of two cases in Claudette Millar Hall.

  • Public health officials have identified that the cases may be linked to a large cluster of COVID cases in the community.

  • If you do not hear from public health officials, you should continue to self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 and seek testing if needed. We all need to avoid social gatherings to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Tell us your plans for fall term

Update for international students

The start of the term is fast approaching and the University has created a form to check-in on your plans for fall term. The form is mandatory for all international students and asks about your travel history and plans - including your quarantine plan (if applicable). By filling out the form, we can all comply with the Government of Canada and University of Waterloo health guidelines related to COVID-19 and help keep each other safe.
