COVID-19 tracking dashboard

The University of Waterloo will post information provided to us by public health units on positive cases of COVID-19 amongst students and employees who attended one of our campuses. This includes cases at the Affiliated and Federated Institutions of Waterloo on the Waterloo campus.

We take the privacy of individuals extremely seriously. In reporting on positive cases, the University will protect the private health information of individuals. You should check our disclosure protocol for what to do if someone reveals to you that they have tested positive for COVID-19.

In the event a member of the University community tests positive, our Health Services and Occupational Health teams use data to contact anyone who may have come in close contact with COVID-positive cases in our community. We have safety protocols in place across all our campuses to maintain physical distancing and our cleaning teams are meeting and exceeding public health recommendations for disinfecting spaces that may have been exposed to the virus.

We have voluntarily adopted this new protocol and in our reporting of individual cases will note if Public Health has advised of any specific actions or potential outbreaks.

Residence wastewater surveillance pilot program

The University is conducting a pilot wastewater surveillance program in Ron Eydt Village, Village 1, Mackenzie King Village, UW Place including CMH as an additional layer of information to aid in the response to potential COVID-19 cases. This involves testing for the presence of the COVID-19 fragments three times a week that are shed by both asymptomatic and symptomatic individuals in wastewater.

Please note: a positive wastewater detection does not indicate that someone in residence has tested positive for COVID-19.
