Welcome to Theatre & Performance, Speech Communication, and Digital Arts Communication
Welcome! In this department, we believe that understanding and experiencing the many facets of performance and communication contribute to a rich and complete humanities education. All our programs integrate academic and practical work to produce the best education in our disciplines.
We offer two sets of degree programs and one minor: Speech Communication, Theatre and Performance, and Digital Arts Communication. Our faculty pursue distinct and overlapping areas of work encompassing teaching, research, and creative activity in digital arts communication, theatre theory and practice, and communication as the processes by which people create meaning in communities.

Vershawn Young has published Neo-Passing: Performing Identity after Jim Crow. The official U.S. publication date is set for March 12, 2018.

The year was 1997. I sat in the Blyth Festival theatre in anticipation of seeing my very first production of a Norm Foster play, The Melville Boys. I was in my last year of high school preparing to attend the University of Waterloo Dramatic Arts program that coming fall.
