The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences is hosting a farewell reception for Bill Taylor to celebrate his contributions to the Department and University over the last 35 years.
Last year, Taylor served as the interim Department Chair for Earth and Environmental Sciences. He was also named a Distinguished Professor Emeritus.
Taylor has had a very productive research career. He is an international authority on the pollution of surface water, particularly as a result of human activity. Taylor has a specific interest in the phosphorus cycle and its effects on bacteria and pathogens. His main geographic areas of study are the Laurentian Lakes, the Canadian Shield and the Grand River System. He has been a leader in the studies of East Africa, particularly in Ethiopia.
