Earth and Environmental Sciences supports Mental Health Wellness Day

Earth and Environmental Sciences faculty, staff and students wear orange in support of Mental Health Awareness Day.

Members of the University of Waterloo community, including EES students, staff and faculty, wore their orange Mental Health Wellness t-shirts yesterday to let the campus community know that Waterloo is a safe place to talk about mental health issues.

Over its fifty-year history, Earth Science faculty have earned an international reputation as pioneers in contaminant hydrogeology and leaders in outreach through their award-winning Earth Sciences Museum.

CERC Philippe Van Cappellen named Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada

Today, Professor Philippe Van Cappellen of the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences was named a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and inducted into the Academy of Science.

Fellows are elected to the academies by their peers in recognition of outstanding scholarly, scientific and artistic achievement. Election is the highest honour a scholar can achieve in the Arts, Humanities and Sciences.
