Earth Science students compete in Science's 3MT heat

The annual Faculty of Science Three Minute Thesis heat returned this week.  More than twenty graduate students from all six units gathered to compete and describe their research in less than three minutes, using only one slide.

Qatar and United Arab Emirates partner with Waterloo to study groundwater pollution in arid regions

Four researchers from the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences are the co-recipients of a $672,000 USD grant from the Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) to study the fate of groundwater pollutants in arid regions.

Waterloo Earth scientists awarded $1.3 million for strategic research partnerships

Two researchers from the University of Waterloo’s Faculty of Science who are collaborating with industry and other organizations on strategic research projects received more than $1.3 million from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).

The Honourable Kirsty Duncan, Minister of Science, announced the Strategic Partnership Grants today. They help bring together expertise from academia, Canadian-based companies and government organizations, and international institutes to collaborate on innovative research with commercialization potential.
