The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences has received a license renewal from geoLOGIC Systems Inc., of Calgary, Alberta, for the well-known and widely used geoSCOUT™ software for research and student training. This GIS-type software allows remote digital access and geographical analysis of the vast data banks of oil and gas well production in Alberta and elsewhere in Canada.
To quote from the geoLOGIC Systems Inc. website:
“geoSCOUT™ is the industry leading decision-support tool, providing comprehensive data for all disciplines within the Oil and Gas industry. By integrating public and proprietary data in wells, well logs, land, pipelines and facilities, fields and pools and seismic studies, geoSCOUT™ gives you access to the information you need.”
This software is available for access (contact Paul Miskovsky in the Science Computing Office firstname.lastname@example.org) and the year’s license constitutes a “gift-in-kind” of substantial monetary value.
“geoLOGIC systems is committed to supporting the future generations of the energy sector. We believe supporting post-secondary institutions is crucial to the development and growth of a responsible and successful community,” said Professor Maurice Dusseault.
The Department thanks geoLOGIC System Inc. for their ongoing commitment.
