The Earth Sciences Museum will be hosting activities at the Scarborough Wonders of the Earth Show! The show is running from Saturday September 21st to Sunday September 22nd at the Don Montgomery Community Centre!

Sudbury Rock & Lapidary Society

Join us at the Sudbury Gem and Mineral Show– Northern Ontario's largest gem, mineral, fossil, jewellery, bead and lapidary arts show and sale. There will be gem and mineral dealers as well as demonstrations and exhibits.

We will be bringing along the opportunity to learn about Ontario's complex geology, analyze snowflakes, and dig for real fossilized fish!

Join us on Sunday, May 5th for a tour of the Peter Russell Rock Garden. Located in the heart of campus, the rock garden contains 70+ specimens from around the globe. Participants will learn about the history of Earth, mines and minerals of Canada as well as the unique rock structures of Ontario.

The 1.5 hour tour will led by the Earth Sciences Museum curator Peter Russell.

The tour will be from 1:30–3:00 PM and will begin and end at University of Waterloo, Parking Lot C (off of Seagram Drive). The walk includes paved surfaces throughout the campus and there is accessible parking available closer to the site. Pickup a ticket from Parking Services located on Ring Road.

Saturday, May 4, 2019 — 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM EDT

Explore and marvel at the rocks, minerals, fossils and jewelry on display from local dealers. There are free hands on activities for children and complimentary gem identification by the Canadian Gemological Association. The Earth Sciences Museum will have minerals on display as well as a fossil fish dig for all ages.

Join us at the Brantford Gem & Mineral Show at the Paris Fairgrounds. We will be hosting fossil fish digging, exploration geology, and hope to see you there!

Visit us on Wednesday, March 13th for some March Break dinosaur fun beginning at 1:00 P.M. The program is free and all ages are welcome! 

Please join us in the museum on the first floor of EIT (Centre for Environmental and Information Technology) in the Conestoga Rovers Learning Centre (the room with the dinosaurs!).

Join us in the Earth Sciences Museum on Saturday February 16th for free fun drop-in programs for kids and their families! We will be hosting two sessions during the day. Dinosaurs and Fossils in the morning and Rocks and Minerals in the afternoon.

Museum hours

Conestoga Rovers Learning Centre (the “Dino pit”) open Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

The museum’s main atrium, mining tunnel, Great Lakes fountain and stunning mineral exhibits open all day Monday to Friday, and 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on weekends.

Peter Russell Rock Garden (located outdoors) open to the public year round. Self-guided tours are available.
