Abstract

Growing concerns about the adverse environmental effects of agriculture have led to the establishment of public-funded land conservation programs for improving water quantity and quality. These programs need decision support on allocating conservation investments and also evaluating program performance. In this seminar I will introduce the development and application of an integrated economic and hydrologic modelling system for evaluating cost effectiveness of agricultural conservation practices at a watershed scale. I will also take this opportunity to discuss a vision on science support for improving cost effectiveness of agricultural conservation programs.
