Successful PhD defence: Renfang Tian

Congratulations to PhD student Renfang Tian who successfully defended her PhD! Her thesis is titled, “On Functional Data Analysis: Methodologies and Applications”. Her supervisor was Professor Tao Chen. The department is incredibly proud of your hard work. Renfang will be an Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) at King's University College at Western University. Excellent job, Renfang!

Successful PhD defence: Yichun Huang

Congratulations to PhD student Yichun Huang who successfully defended her PhD last week! Her thesis is titled, “The Economics of Water Conservation Regulations in Mining: An Application to Alberta's Lower Athabasca River Region”. Yichun was supervised by Margaret Insley. The department is proud of all the hard work that Yichun has put in. We wish Yichun all the best in her future endeavours!

PhD student participates in the Bank of Canada PIVOT program

John Baker, an Economics PhD student, was the recipient of one of the grants from the Bank of Canada for their PIVOT program. John used search-query data to process the impact of policy measures on household spending in real-time. J-P Lam helped supervise some of his work.
