Rachel Kelly Appasamy receives the Arts Departmental Award in Economics

Congratulations to Honours Economics student Rachel Kelly Appasamy who received the 2014-2015 Arts Departmental Award in Economics!

Rachel Kelly Appasamy

Rachel graduated with Honours Arts & Business Co-op, majoring in Economics. Her outstanding academic achievement also earned her an Economics Achievement Award, given by the Economics Department.

Rachel is a remarkable student who is committed to learning and curious about a wide variety of topics and issues particularly in monetary economics. Her Honours thesis examined the relationship between the stock market and monetary policy in Canada using advanced time-series techniques. Rachel was accepted in all top programs in Economics in Canada.

Rachel is proud of her achievements in the Economics Department:

My experience in the Economics program at UWaterloo has been great. The professors are always helpful and wanting you to succeed. On top of that, the co-op program has allowed me to put classroom knowledge into practice, while developing skills that would help me in the workplace later on. I feel very grateful and proud to have attended UWaterloo.

Beginning Fall 2015, Rachel will pursue an MA - Doctoral Stream in Economics at the University of Toronto.
