Welcome to the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Waterloo. Over the past few years, our department has grown to a complement of more than 95 regular faculty and 50 staff members. We have expanded into new sub-disciplines, offering not only undergraduate programs in computer, electrical, and software engineering, but contributing to programs in nanotechnology, mechatronics, and biomedical engineering.
Our 2,000+ undergraduate and 500+ graduate students, and our 12,000+ alumni give us countless reasons to be proud. Our students work tirelessly to reach the finish line because the knowledge they gain here prepares them for a bright future ahead. Our graduates are successful problem-solvers working for leading research laboratories, faculty members at top-ranked universities, and entrepreneurs developing innovative products and ideas that transform the world by presenting life-changing solutions to big problems. Our department is dedicated to excellence in teaching and we are Educating the Engineer of the Future.
With more than $24 million in annual research funding and over 13,000 square metres of space comprised of state-of-the-art laboratories and unique facilities, our department seeks to make a strong and positive impact far beyond our own borders; our outlook is global.
