Waterloo RoboHub featured in YouTube series hosted by Robert Downey Jr.

University of Waterloo researchers are in the latest episode of 'The Age of A.I."

While he's not becoming an engineer, Robert Downey Jr. is spearheading a new organization called the Footprint Coalition which aims to use technology to benefit the environment. 

Downey Jr. is also the voice of the YouTube series 'The Age of A.I', and the latest episode has a local connection.

ECE MASc student awarded 2nd place at Gradflix Showcase

On January 15, Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs hosted its second annual GRADflix Showcase, a red-carpet event featuring the 23 best one-minute videos made by graduate students to describe their research. GRADflix is a research communication opportunity for graduate students. Participants create a video, moving slide show, or animation of no longer than 60 seconds (one minute) in length that describes their research.

ECE mourns untimely deaths of those aboard Ukraine International Airlines flight

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering mourns the untimely deaths of all those aboard the Ukraine International Airlines flight that crashed near Tehran this week.  Our thoughts go out to the families, friends and colleagues – both in Waterloo and at our peer institutions – affected by this unfathomable tragedy. 

Numerous victims in the crash had strong ties to our department’s faculty, staff and students; among the victims, husband and wife, Pedram Mousavi and Mojgan Daneshmand, and their two daughters Daria (14 years) and Dorina (9 years).

ECE undergrad student receives Honorable Mention for the Computing Research Association's (CRA) Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher Award

Leo Liu, an undergraduate student in electrical engineering, has received Honorable Mention for the Computing Research Association's (CRA) Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher Award for 2020.

This award program recognizes undergraduate students in North American colleges and universities who show outstanding research potential in an area of computing research.
