Electrical and computer engineering PhD student, Anurag Anand Devadiga, wins paper award at 2021 CIGRE Canada Conference & Expo

Anurag Anand Devadiga, a PhD student in electrical and computer engineering, is the recipient of the 2021 CIGRE Canada Conference & Expo Next Generation Network best paper award for his work, under the supervision of Professor Shesha Jayaram, "The influence of transient parameters on the ageing of transformer turn-to-turn paper-oil insulation."

Electrical and computer engineering PhD student, Hari Govind VK, awarded Microsoft Research PhD Fellowship

Electrical and computer engineering PhD student, Hari Govind VK, has been awarded a Microsoft Research PhD Fellowship. Only 45 people are honoured worldwide each year for this prestigious fellowship.  This year, Hari is the only recipient from a Canadian institution.

The Microsoft Research PhD Fellowship is a global program that identifies and empowers the next generation of exceptional computing research talent.

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering mourns the loss of Professor Safieddin (Ali) Safavi-Naeini

This week our department lost a professor, researcher, colleague, and above all, friend. Professor Safieddin (Ali) Safavi-Naeini passed away on Sunday, October 10th leaving behind a remarkable legacy; his passing is a major loss to all who knew him, as well as to the broader scientific community.
