Chemical Engineering 2021

Audrey Avianto

Hello! I’m Audrey! If you have any inquiry or need some help, or if you just want to talk, don’t hesitate to send me a quick email!

So, why Chemical Engineering?

I chose Chemical Engineering because I want to work in the field of energy and sustainability and because I liked the versatility it offers. A chemical engineer can work within a large variety of fields, such as oil and gas, nuclear and renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, food industry, and so on.

Waterloo engineering in one word?

One of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Okay, that wasn’t one word, but there’s no other word/s to express my feeling towards the engineering program at Waterloo.

What do I do outside of class?

Engineering students have a packed schedule. Leisure time is a privilege, really (earned through continuous perseverance against procrastination), and I make use of my free time to do other things that either relaxes me, intrigues me or both. This term (and most probably the terms after) I joined UW Robotics. I also participated in several interesting workshops and events such as Pancake Fundraising and Puppy Therapy (really helped me de-stress from midterms). I also invest several hours a week in my hobbies, such as drawing and watching The Flash or Game of Thrones.

One more thing about me:

I love expressing my opinions through writing as well as reading, novels especially! Hit me up if you want to have an interesting discussion about anything, ranging from your favorite romance novel to the conundrum of whether chickens are the evolution of T-rex or not.
