Waterloo Engineering in one word:
Challenging
I choose Waterloo Engineering because:
As someone unsure of what they’d do after graduation, the Co-op program allows me to gain insight into where I belong within the field, while also gaining valuable experience and offsetting the cost of schooling.
The best thing about my program is:
The application of math and engineering to environmental issues.
I wish I had known before I came:
Don’t let feeling like you can’t offer anything yet stop you from checking out design teams! It’s never too early in your undergrad to learn about these opportunities to see where you want to get involved, even if you wait a year to join!
Outside the classroom, I’m involved with:
Warrior Home Design Team, as a Solar Design Lead
Engineering Ambassadors
Grey County Secondary Academic Mentorship program
Undergraduate Research Assistantship (Fall 2021)
In the past I have also been a part of Engineers without Borders, WEEF Council, New Student Mentorship, and Orientation
One more thing about me:
This year I have been a part of the Women in Engineering Alumni Career Mentorship program. My mentor is amazing, and even though they came from a different engineering academic background, we were matched based on our interests and their work experience, so it has been a great fit and I have learned so much!
I would definitely recommend the program!
