Waterloo Engineering in one word:
Exciting!
I choose Waterloo Engineering because:
The co-op and cohort systems at Waterloo were the main reason I chose Waterloo Engineering, but the excellent reputation of the school itself was also attractive.
The best thing about my program is:
Everything! The people and faculty are lovely, and the courses are a bit difficult but very enriching.
About my Co-op experience:
I’m currently working at BlackBerry over my current co-op term, as a Machine Learning Developer Student. It’s been a really great learning experience so far, and the projects I’ve been working on are very interesting!
I wish I had known before I came:
I wish I knew more about how co-op worked before I joined Waterloo – the fact that there are two primary rounds and then a continuous rolling round took a bit to understand.
Outside the classroom, I’m involved with:
I was my cohort’s WEEF rep for both 1A and 1B, as well as recently joining the newly formed UW orbital team!
A fun project I’ve completed:
For our SE101 design project, my group decided to create an automated plant care system, which detects the soil moisture and light levels of a plant, and automatically waters it as well as warns you if it isn’t getting enough light. The project itself was fun to design, but working as a team was definitely the best part.
One more thing about me:
I really like gardening, so if you have any stories or tips do reach out :)
