Introduce yourself briefly:
My name is Divena Raina, and I am from Markham, Ontario. Currently, I am a 1B student in Management Engineering, class of 2027.
Waterloo Engineering in one word:
Innovation
I chose Waterloo Engineering because:
The University of Waterloo is one of Canada’s premier universities for engineering. I chose Waterloo Engineering because it provides a unique combination of in class learnings and co-op experiences to help shape my career.
The best thing about my program is:
What I really like about this program is that the learnings can be applied in a wide range of industries. It is a unique program that offers skills in programming, data analytics, optimization, organization analysis and other great topics!
About my co-op experience:
I look forward to having my first co-op this coming Spring 2023!
I wish I had known before I came:
Time management is key when transitioning into University and it is important to maintain a balance between academics and your personal life.
Outside the classroom, I am involved in:
● EngChats Ambassadors
● Engineering Tour Guides
A fun project I’ve completed:
In 1A, for MSCI 100, I coded a financial planning tool using Excel and Visual Basics Applications. I liked how I could be creative with the project by adding different functionalities and designing an interactive interface. Overall, it was an enjoyable learning experience and I look forward to developing new skills for future projects in the program.
One more thing about me:
I love volunteering and giving back to my community!
