Introduce yourself briefly:
My name is Jack Wang. I’m currently in my first year in Computer Engineering at the University of Waterloo and I am in the class of 2027.
Waterloo Engineering in one word:
Fulfilling
I choose Waterloo Engineering because:
I enjoy engaging in hands-on activities and I would like to expand my interests in the field of computer science and not just software.
The best thing about my program is:
It forces you to stay on top of your work and other endeavours.
I wish I had known before I came:
● Learn about math and programming concepts outside of your classroom to best prepare and ease into the life of an engineer.
● Make friends with people both inside of your program and outside of your program.
● The burrito bowls in CMH’s food market are great
● Know when you could afford to be unproductive and act on it
Outside the classroom, I’m involved with:
As I’m writing this, I’m currently part of UWaterloo’s Computer Science Club and UWaterloo’s Orbital Design Team. I’m hoping to be a part of the Blockchain Club, the Data Science Club, the Badminton Varsity Team, the Chinese Student Association, the UW Blueprint Design Team, Waterloop, and Watonamous.
A fun project I’ve completed:
As I’m writing this, we haven’t completed any project in my term. However, I know that I will be looking forward to the project in my ECE 198 course where we have to use a hardware kit to create a hardware program.
One more thing about me:
My hobbies are reading classic novels, coding, and playing badminton.
