Geological Engineering 2022

Jason Paul Connelly
Hey! My name is Jason, and I am currently a 1B Geological Engineering student in the class of 2022.

Waterloo Engineering in one word:

Opportunities

I chose Waterloo Engineering because:

The Co-op program gives me an opportunity to experience many different jobs and positions.

The best thing about my program is:

I chose Geological Engineering because I have always loved the outdoors, and find the mix of civil, environmental and just geo really cool! Geo is great because there is so many options; from geotechnical to groundwater, to mining, there are so many areas you can focus on.

About Co-op:

My first Co-op was with the City of Brantford as a Design and Construction Assistant. I got to learn many exciting things from the engineers, including lots about microtunnelling, wastewater treatment and how a municipality gets jobs done.

I wish I had known before I came:

How approachable and friendly the profs are. The vast majority are very eager to help whether it be during office hours or during class.

Outside the classroom, I’m involved with:

  • Waterloo Nordic ski team
  • Waterloo tennis club
