Waterloo Engineering in one word:
Extraordinary
I choose Waterloo Engineering because:
I want to pursue entrepreneurship in the future, so I was fascinated by the many entrepreneurial opportunities available at Waterloo. I remember reading about a lot of Waterloo Engineering graduates/drop-outs that went on to lead some amazing start-ups, and some of them took part in programs like the Velocity Incubator!
The best thing about my program is:
Biomedical Engineering is very broad - I’ve been able to develop skills in programming, CAD, and design, which really helps me to discover what my interests are!
About my Co-op experience:
Looking forward to my first co-op in summer of 2022!
I wish I had known before I came:
How valuable programming skills are - I only realized I wanted to go into software during my first term. If I had known this earlier, I would’ve taken some programming courses in high school, and likely would’ve tried to start some side projects during the summer going into first year!
Outside the classroom, I’m involved with:
At school I’m involved with Engineering Ambassadors and UW BioMechatronics. Outside, I volunteer with The Debtless Students (feel free to contact us for scholarship advice!), Medical Makers, and STEM Fellowship.
A fun project I’ve completed:
I started The App Brewery’s Complete iOS + Swift App Development course in 2021, where I’ve learned to create some fun apps!
One more thing about me:
I’ll be working part-time at Shopify soon, helping Shopify merchants build their digital presence on the platform!
