Introduce yourself briefly:
My name is Nicolas Quintana and I’m a computer engineer graduating in 2024. I love working with other engineers to solve problems and add value to the world.
Waterloo Engineering in one word:
Constructive
I choose Waterloo Engineering because:
Co-op, cool upper year electives, and because my parents also went to Waterloo.
The best thing about my program is:
The flexibility we have with our career fields in the future. Computer Engineers can go into any number of fields after graduation from circuit design to software development to a career in law among many other options.
About my Co-op experience:
My co-op experience has been varied from start-ups to big corporations with 30,000+ people. I’ve had the chance to network with many individuals in different fields which is helping me figure out what I want to do with my career after I graduate.
I wish I had known before I came:
Get involved but not too involved! Sign up for a couple of activities outside school but still give yourself time to study and relax!
Outside the classroom, I’m involved with:
Waterloo Engineering Society
A fun project I’ve completed:
My personal portfolio website!
One more thing about me:
I love photography and film. I think more artists/creatives should look into engineering since the skills are complementary.
