Introduce yourself briefly:
Hey, I’m Yuchi(Allan) Zhao and I am studying mechatronics engineering. I will be graduating in 2023. A big fan of robotics! Feel free to contact me via email!
Waterloo Engineering in one word:
Beyond limits!
I choose Waterloo Engineering because:
- Waterloo Engineering has the unique co-op opportunity to work in different industries and explore your interests.
- Waterloo Engineering has a STRONG community!
- Waterloo Engineering has world-class labs and equipment such as the RoboHub.
The best thing about my program is:
In mechatronics engineering, I have the chance of exploring different fields including mechanical, electronics, embedded systems, control, and AI. This not only helps me to gain a better understanding of mechatronics systems as a whole, but more importantly, it helps me to find what I truly love doing. If you are interested in many things and you are not sure what you want to study specifically, this program is for you!
About my Co-op experience:
I totally explored everything I am interested in through my six co-op terms. I have worked on website development, mechanical designs, embedded software, data science, and research in robotics. Also, I have had the opportunity to experience different companies’ cultures, from startups to high-tech companies.
I wish I had known before I came:
Professors are so nice! They are willing to talk with you about anything!
Outside the classroom, I’m involved with:
- UW Robotics Design Team
- Tron Mentor Chat Program
- Robotics Research
A fun project I’ve completed:
My team built a robot manipulation system that helps chemists to conduct time-consuming and dangerous chemistry experiments.
One more thing about me:
I love traveling and taking photos.
