We are the largest engineering school in Canada, with over 10,100 students enrolled in 2018. In 2018/19, external research funding from Canadian and international partners exceeded $96 million, a strong indication of our extensive industry partnerships and the excellence of our engineering research programs.

  1. Dec. 6, 2019Students honour 14 women murdered 30 years ago

    Fourteen female Waterloo Engineering students lit white candles and stood shoulder to shoulder today in honour of the 14 young women who were murdered because of their gender at l'École Polytechnique de Montréal three decades ago.

    The solemn, poignant ceremony in Engineering 7 on the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women was held to both remember the massacre and remind people that, despite progress, necessary work continues on the underlying issues.

  2. Dec. 4, 2019Scholarship brings student from India to Waterloo

    A young woman from India is now studying at Waterloo Engineering with $100,000 in backing from a national scholarship program.

    Chidi Umenwofor-Nweze, one of 35 prestigious Loran Scholars for 2019, started the systems design engineering program with experience including a summer stint working for the territorial government in Nunavut.

  3. Dec. 3, 2019Researcher to lead blockchain network privacy project

    A Waterloo Engineering expert in cryptography will head a collaborative project between the Open Application Network (OAN) and the University of Waterloo to investigate ways of ensuring privacy of open applications on blockchain networks.

    The Waterloo Engineering alumni class reunion in 2020 is taking place on June 6, 2020 at Alumni Weekend. The engineering Classes of 1960, 1965, 1970, 1975, 1980, 1985, 1990, 1995, 2000, 2005, 2010 and 2015 are invited to campus to celebrate this milestone in their engineering career.
