The University of Waterloo is hosting a free public lecture event and panel discussion to explore the science behind the Ebola virus.
Speakers include Christine Dupont, a biology professor, who will examine the biology of the Ebola virus. She will discuss where the virus came from and how it affects the human body.
Shannon Majowicz, a professor with the School of Public Health and Health Systems ,will speak about the epidemiology of this viral disease, how it spreads and mechanisms to prevent infection.
Marc Aucoin, a chemical engineering professor, will explain the science behind ZMapp and VSV-EBOV, the Canadian experimental drug and vaccine used against the Ebola virus.
After the short lectures, attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions of the speakers in a panel discussion.
