First year PhD Student wins Dorothy Shoemaker Literary Award

University of Waterloo English PhD student Lamees Al Ethari has won first prize in the Dorothy Shoemaker Literary Award for her poem entitled "Roots".

The Dorothy Shoemaker Awards started as a Centennial project of the Kitchener Public Library (KPL). In 1996, when government funding was stopped, Dorothy Shoemaker, KPL's then Chief Librarian, and strong supporter of emerging writers, endowed the contest through the Kitchener and Waterloo Community Foundation.
