The Department of English offers approximately 25 donor-supported awards for exemplary student work in a wide array of genres, from essays to creative writing (poetry and prose) to rhetoric, professional writing, and digital design.
Waterloo alumnus and nationally celebrated writer George Elliot Clarke adds Parliamentary Poet Laureate to his long and illustrious post-graduation track record. Announced recently, his two-year appointment with Canada’s Parliament is dedicated to the promotion of writing and reading poetry in English and French for all Canadians.
English PhD candidate Elise Vist is one of the ten finalists to continue to the final round of the Three Minute Thesis Competition. Come support her when she competes on March 27, 2014 from 2:30 to 4:00 pm in Hagey Hall (HH), Humanities Theatre.
