Voting open from February 28th to April 25th.
The purpose of this referendum is to gather feedback to inform our decision-making process regarding potential changes to the Environment Graduate Student Association (EGSA) fees. Fees are released by the GSA to EGSA, our department GSA (dGSA), as we submit a termly expense report. Funding must be used by the dGSA to improve the student experience.
As part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing and maintaining the services and events provided by EGSA, we are considering an adjustment to the membership fee structure. Currently set at $3.33 per term (lowest) , we are proposing an increase to $5 (which is still one of the lowest across all dGSAs) per term for full-time and part-time students. A small fee change would make a big difference towards the size and frequency of the activities we could offer.
Voting rights extend to full-time and part-time students within the department. WatIAM is required to ensure voter eligibility.
Summary: The Environment GSA is considering increasing membership fees from $3.33 to $5 per term to enhance services and opportunities for its members. A referendum is conducted to seek member approval, ensuring transparency in decision-making processes. The increased fee will enable students to participate in a broader range of EGSA events tailored to professional student needs and interests.
