Co-op in the School of Environment, Resources and Sustainability (SERS) starts halfway through second year (after the 2A Fall term). During  2A school term, students complete Professional Development 1 (PD1), a combination of career development advice and co-op work search process information which are to prepare for co-op. PD12 is completed during the first work term placement. A total of four  PD courses are required.

Co-op students in SERS are required to submit a work term report following each co-op work term. Beginning with the second work term placement, a total of three work term reports are submitted to SERS using the LEARN drop box. This report is due on the tenth day of classes  in the term following the work term. If you need an extension for this submission, you must file a petition for extension and have it approved by the Associate Dean's Office. Contact Carol Knipe, in Environment 1 (EV1) room 336.

Co-op work term report guidelines

  • Your first work term report is part of  PD1 and PD12 courses done prior to and during your first work term and is submitted and credited via Co-op Education and Career Services. PD12 takes the place of your first work report submission during your first work term placement.
  • Your subsequent work term reports must be submitted to SERS via the Co-op Work Term Reports Community Group on LEARN. A dedicated drop box is provided for this purpose each term.  Reports are to be submitted to this drop box one week after the start of classes in the term following your work term placement.
  • Guidelines for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th work term reports are found at this link, and on LEARN.  These Guidelines apply only to reports submitted to SERS. Starting with the September 2015 deadline, all reports submitted to SERS must adhere to these new guidelines.
  • A total of 4 work term report credits and 4 PD courses are required to graduate with the co-op designation.
