One of the PhD milestones is to present a lecture on some aspect of your research to the Faculty of Environment, known as the "seminar" milestone.
This milestone is usually for students who are in their third year or are in the process of thesis writing or submission (see PhD guidelines here)
If there is enough interest each term, SERS will co-organize a panel of seminar speakers each term. Individual presentations should take about 20 minutes, with time for Q&A at the end, and depending on the number of participants the panel session itself may last for several hours. It is expected that participants will attend the full session. Faculty members are required to attend the presentation for those they are supervising and so coordination with supervisors is encouraged.
Individual seminars can be completed at anytime during the year, in which we ask that a minimum of two weeks notice is provided to the SERS Graduate Administrator.
