Doug Stewart

Doug teaches ERS 454/654 - Parks and Protected Areas in Fall term each year.

Doug Stewart has over 35 years of management experience in parks and protected areas through his work with Parks Canada, an agency of the Government of Canada.

Doug worked as the Superintendent of several National Parks across Canada, and as the Director General for National Parks responsible for national leadership on policy, new park and protected areas establishment and international relations.

He developed and teaches the course Parks and Protected Areas: Issues and Trends for the Department of Environment (Environment and Resource Sustainability) at the University of Waterloo.

Doug is a graduate of Queen’s University holding Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Public Administration degrees.
