The best way to start feeling at home in Environment is to get involved right from the start! Here are just some of the opportunities available to you on campus.

Environment Students’ Society

ESS is the elected representative body of the undergraduate students within the Faculty of Environment. They foster a strong social and academic community by providing opportunities for networking, student leadership, and support. In addition, each program has its own association, including:

  • Environment and Resource Studies Student Association (ERSSA)
  • Knowledge Integration Student Society (KISS)
  • Planning Student Association (PSA)
  • Student Association of International Development (SAID)
  • Waterloo Association of Geography Students (WAGS)
  • Waterloo Environment and Business Students (WEBS)

Waterloo Environment Students Endowment Fund
The objective of WESEF is to raise funds for improving the Environment Studies education at the University of Waterloo. Students can be selected by their program association to sit on the WESEF Board.

Orientation Leaders
Gain valuable leadership experience while helping new students become familiar with the University of Waterloo. Applications for various roles are available on Leads from October – January for the following Fall.

Sustainable Campus Initiative
Sustainable Campus Initiative is a Federation of Student’ service that is run by dedicated student volunteers. It provides many environmental services to the University of Waterloo campus and its surrounding community.

Sign up for a fitness class, head to the gym, swim some lengths, or get a group of friends together and create an intramural team!

Waterloo Undergraduate Student Association (WUSA)
WUSA provides hundreds of part-time jobs for students, encompasses over 150 clubs, and supports academic societies. There are many opportunities to get involved.

Join the Faculty’s online mentorship and networking platform to meet hundreds of Environment alumni; ask questions, get advice; and grow your professional network.
