Contested Development: The Fight for Toronto's Sustainable Future

Dean André Roy cordially invites all Faculty of Environment alumni to an exclusive alumni celebration.

Meet with old friends and professors, discover who will win the prestigious 2013 Alumni Achievement Award and first-ever Young Alumni Award, and enjoy a special behind-the-scenes panel talk featuring some of the most influential shapers of Toronto today.

 Contested Development

Toronto is home to nearly 1 in 5 Canadians and the highest concentration of Faculty of Environment grads in the world. It is the No.1 settlement destination for new Canadians and its population is predicted to swell by 1.5 million more residents by 2025.

Does Toronto have what it takes to plan a path to sustainable growth through a tangled web of competing interests; or will its bright future sink in a sea of traffic, bloated mortgages and actual flood water?

Moderated by renowned Canadian journalist and TV host, Steve Paikin, this panel talk will examine the pressures posed by urban intensification and how best to carve a path forward for the sustainable future of Canada's largest city.

Please note: This event is exclusively for alumni of the Faculty of Environment and is closed to the general public.

RSVP deadline is Friday, October 11th.
