As we celebrate the holidays and are surrounded by family and friends, I think many of us are reminded of how lucky we are.
In the next two months, Waterloo region could get up to 1150 Syrian refugees who will call our community home.
Cash donations in support of relief efforts are encouraged and welcomed by the organizations supporting these families in our community. To find out more or make a contribution see the University of Waterloo giving page.
In addition, in hopes of conveying a gesture of welcome and support, and to bring a smile to the faces of the hundreds of displaced children, please consider contributing a NEW UNWRAPPED OR WRAPPED TOY for a child 17 year of age or under.
There are two ways to donate:
- Bring your toy to the Faculty’s holiday party the morning of December 17th at the Courtyard.
- Please drop off your toy to the Environment Advancement Team EV1 – 331 by noon December 16th.
Toys will be dropped off to St. Vincent De Paul Society on December 18th, and will be distributed to the Syrian families in our community.
Also, stay tuned for more Faculty of Environment initiatives in support of the Syrian Refugees in our community in the New Year.
Thank you for considering this request and in advance for the generosity of those participating.
Wishing you and your loved ones a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah, and wonderful Holidays.
