Film Screening of N’ziibiimnaan – Our River
Join us on Monday, November 20th at 1:00 p.m. for a screening of N’ziibiimnaan – Our River, a documentary film about the 2016 Biigtig Siibii Canoe Trip.
Following the screening, there will be a Q&A with Special Guest Chief Duncan Michano.
Chief Duncan Michano is the Chief of Biigtigong, Nishnaabeg, formerly known as Ojibways of the Pic River First Nation, located on the north shore of Lake Superior along the Pic River. Chief Duncan organized and led the 2016 Biigtig Siibii Canoe Trip, and the trip itself was documented in the form of the film. Chief Duncan has been an advocate of canoeing for all his life. He worked at Parks Canada as Park Warden for 39 years before becoming Chief of Biigtigong Nishnaabeg. Biigtigong Nishnaabeg is now in the midst of a lands claim negotiation to re-claim their land, and are working very hard on it.
