The Water Institute - RBC Distinguished Lecture 2015Export this event to calendar

Thursday, April 30, 2015 — 4:00 PM EDT

Join the Water Institute April 30, 2015 at 4:00pm for a lecture by Dr. Sunita Narain on "Challenges for Water Security in the Poor's World: The agenda for research and policy to manage water scarcity, plenty, pollution and waste in an age of climate risk".

Dr. Narain's lecture will address the fact that large parts of the developing world are faced with huge and mounting water challenges. One the one hand, there is scarcity and competition for the resource between current agricultural users and new users in industry and urban areas. One the other hand, there is increasingly variability in rainfall, leading to floods dr. narainand droughts because of now more visible climatic changes. Current technologies for water and waste management are unaffordable and therefore, unsustainable. What is the way ahead? What should research be advising policy and practice to build a new water future?
